At Foundations Pediatric Therapy, we believe a child’s most important work is PLAY. We believe in using play to build the foundational skills children need to grow and develop. Through play, kids learn problem-solving, communication, motor skills, safety awareness, and emotional regulation. Most importantly, through play, our kids grow and thrive.

Dr. Daniel Siegel, The Yes Brain

“As NASA began their search for new hires, they prioritized finding grads with a history of play during childhood, as this indicated a high ability to problem solve. All of this highlights that aside from prizing and prioritizing your relationship with your kids the other main way you can help create balance in their lives is by protecting free play. Allow them time to explore and discover and to develop important emotional, social, and intellectual skills through play and trial and error.

Play has become an endangered activity due to an increasing demand for extracurriculars and standardized testing, leaving less and less time to build towers and problem-solve puzzles. Plus other contemporary social forces encroach on what was previously plays domain as media, electronics, and the like assert their dominance in the lives and minds of kids. None of these competing forces are inherently bad but a real problem emerges when they more and more come to replace play which is actually essential for optimal development in both humans and other mammals. “
